Roadworks - aargh!!!

OK, so who's idea was it to close all these roads at the same time? I admit it needs to be done, but couldn't they do a bit, FINISH IT,  then move on to the next bit?? I don't know where they got this idea from where they start a hole, move all the workers down to the other end of Sharjah, dig another hole, move all the workers over to another section, put up a bit of scaffolding and just close everything off to all traffic.
There's a lovely new fly-over near the Flying Saucer Roundabout, which has been sitting in the middle of the sand track which used to be Al Wahda Street for nearly a year now. I've never seen anyone working on it, the road on either side has vanished into dust and every time I drive under the fly-over, it looks narrower. I've got a horrible feeling it's only two lanes either way, which, when it does eventually open, will not be enough for the tenfold increase in traffic that inevitably will have occurred by then.
Why isn't anyone concerned? Why hasn't anyone noticed how many cars there are now? Why don't they bring the rents down in Dubai so that we can have our old, quiet Sharjah back again? Has anyone else noticed how much easier it is to drive around in town in the mornings, when everyone is in Dubai, and how horrid it is in the evenings when all the Dubai registered cars are back clogging up the streets and driving like lunatics?
